Bespoke Landscapes and Spaces

What We Do

The Alban Landscape Partnership (TALP) is a highly focused design and cost consultancy creating and managing bespoke public spaces, commercial landscapes and private gardens.

We achieve this through creative design, environmental stewardship and management of the planning, financial and technical processes involved.

The practice works regularly in development design teams and is also recognized by its close links with many clients in the Landscape Construction Industry.

  • Landscape, Urban & Garden Design: for commercial projects, public spaces and private gardens
  • Landscape Planning, Sciences & Management: through environmental assessment, arboriculture and ecology
  • Landscape Cost Consultancy: Cost estimating and tender packages for Developers, Contractors, Consultants and Designers

Our services can be engaged singularly or collectively to suit any scale of project.

Meeting The Team

Who We Are

The practice was established in 1997 by Andrew Cambridge, a Chartered Landscape Architect and a specialist in technical design, cost surveying and project management. He has over 30 years experience in design and contracting companies and is a strong advocate of collaboration between design, technical and construction disciplines.

Katina Cambridge, also a Chartered Landscape Architect and garden designer, had a long and successful career in private practice before joining the Alban Landscape Partnership in 2013 to focus on conceptual design, presentation and practice management.

Stuart Pearson CMLI is a principal consultant with the practice. As both Architect and Landscape Architect, he has particular expertise in conceptual design, landscape masterplanning, urban renewal and town centre regeneration. Stuart became a CABE space enabler in 2003 and has provided advice and guidance to local authorities, preparing design briefs and assisting with the procurement and selection of design teams for international competitions including new town squares. In the course of his career he has received multiple design awards (with Higson Pearson and Pearson Landscape Design) including four Civic Trust Awards, the RIBA Presidents’ Award and BBC Designer of the Year Award 1994 (for Woodlea Primary School) and the inaugural Landscape Institute Presidents’ Award 1993 for Fanhams Hall.

Since inception, TALP has completed a large number of project assignments producing strong and confident settings for all forms of property and contemporary development on behalf of private individuals, public authorities and commercial organisations.

Today the practice combines the talents of landscape consultants and garden designers supported by fully qualified technical staff and specialists in cost estimating, trees and ecology to ensure that projects are steered from concept to planning approval, then to detail design and physical reality.

Committed to Design Excellence

Our Philosophy

We place a high value on collaboration between all the design, scientific, technical and management disciplines of the built and natural environment professions, in order to achieve our over-arching objective of truly sustainable design. The practice welcomes commissions where input from all concerned is valued above prescriptive design.

Our schemes respond to each individual site in its local and regional context and we work at any scale from individual properties to commercial developments, urban and rural parks and civic spaces.

Where We Are

Our main studios are in Hertfordshire on the edge of the new Heartwood Forest and from here we serve clients throughout the UK.

We are committed to design excellence in all that we do and combine this with sound technical and financial knowledge and support. We are skilled in the integration of buildings, human activities and natural environments into urban townscape and rural landscape.
